Journey through scripture

Read the Bible with us in 2024!

Why?

One of our core values at Hope is to be Rooted in the Bible. We have found that it’s impossible to be rooted in something that you don’t know or haven’t read! So, in 2024 we are planning to read through the Bible together as a church. Our Sunday sermons will reflect the weekly Bible Recap readings that we will make available to everyone. We believe that through the spiritual discipline of reading God’s Word, you will become Discipled to Maturity. As you take this step of faith to engage in God’s Word, we want you to ask God to open your heart, your mind, and your eyes to see what He wants to show you and how He wants to grow you!

What Plan are we using?

We will be using the Bible Recap reading plan. It is a chronological plan that will take you through the entire Bible highlighting, summarizing and clarifying the passages. We chose this plan for its simplicity, and its availability. You can access the reading plan digitally, with a physical print out, or through an audio podcast. It is our hope these different options will allow you to discover the best way to engage with the Bible!

How do I prepare?

First, you need to make a plan! How do you plan to engage in the Bible reading plan? Once you choose how you plan to engage, you’ll need to download the plan or pick up your materials at the church. Check out the options below:

I plan to read or listen digitally:

1. Download the YouVersion Bible app on your preferred device.

2. Search under “Plans” for the reading plan called “The Bible Recap”

3. Select: 365 Days The Bible Recap with Tara-Leigh Cobble

4. On January 1st, 2024 “Start the Plan”

1. Choose a podcast platform to use: Youtube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Podbean, Stitcher, Google or WayNation

2. Subscribe to “The Bible Recap podcast” through your preferred platform.

I plan to read a physical print copy:

1. If you’re starting in the beginning of 2024, we will have print copies available in the lobby for the reading plan as well as copies of “The Bible Recap” throughout the month of December 2023.

2. If you are joining us on the journey a little later, email Anna@hopesmyrna.com to coordinate a time to get your resources for the reading plan.

You’ve Got Options

We are so excited about this journey of reading through the Bible together this year! We believe that as we encourage one another and are guided by our weekly sermons, that this will be a great experience for everyone. We know that reading the entire Bible in a year might seem daunting and that people are at different stages, but we want you to feel encouraged and excited about this journey. For whatever stage you are in, we want to try and meet you where you are.

1. Tier One is the full reading plan (linked above with different ways to participate).

2. Tier Two is an abbreviated plan that will include a few chapters from each week's reading plan.

Whichever tier you choose, we want to encourage you to take a courageous step in your walk with the Lord in 2024.

Hope Groups

All of our adult Hope Groups will be following this Bible reading plan as we read through the Bible in 2024. We will utilize “The Bible Recap: Discussion Guide” to deepen our discussions and further our faith! If you are interested in joining a Hope Group, please go to our Groups page to get started.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We will begin on January 1, 2024! However, there are prep episodes on The Bible Recap Podcast that are very helpful to listen to ahead of time if you would like to.

  • Yes! We want this resource to be as flexible as you are. Some people will be strictly print users and others will be only digital users, but you can mix both modalities if it suits your reading and lifestyle better!

  • The preaching text each Sunday will come from the passages that you have read over the previous week.

  • If you miss a day and want to double up the next to stay on track, that’s great! But, if you don’t feel like you can realistically “catch up”, we want you to pick up where we are at as a church (this way you can stay on track with the sermon series and Hope Group Discussions). The last thing we want is for you to just “give up” because you’ve missed a few days or weeks. It is never our intention for you to feel ashamed for missing any of the readings, it is our desire for you to read the Word, become a self-feeding disciple, and know the Lord!
